About the charts
These graphs show three data columns for the “% proficient” scoring students of the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) for each year. The first column is the score for Hall High School, the second is the district average, and the third is the state average.
About Connecticut Academic Performance Test
Connecticut's statewide testing program consists of two tests: the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT), which is administered in grades 3–8; and the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT), which is administered in grade 10. Together, these assessments help guide curriculum and instruction in the direction that Connecticut educators believe is important. They also enable the measurement of progress toward the educational goals that have been established for Connecticut students as reflected in the Connecticut curriculum frameworks.

The CAPT was first administered to students in grade 10 in the spring of 1994. A second generation of the CAPT was introduced in May 2001. The third generation of CAPT began with the March 2007 test administration. In the CAPT, students are not compared to one another in terms of performance; rather, student scores are compared to performance standards related to specific learning outcomes or skills. State goals have been set for each content area of the test. Reports of individual student achievement relative to these state goals and standards in the areas of Mathematics, Reading Across the Disciplines, Writing Across the Disciplines, and Science are provided to each student tested.
