Public Grades
Summary

Moore Middle School is a public middle school located in Arvada, Colorado, serving grades 6-8 with a student population of 368. The school is part of the Jefferson County School District No. R-1, which is ranked 35 out of 116 school districts in Colorado and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite being part of a relatively high-performing district, Moore Middle School consistently ranks in the bottom half of Colorado middle schools, with significantly below-average performance on standardized tests across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, only 30.5% of Moore Middle School students were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 51.8% in the district and 44.1% statewide. In Math, only 14.4% of Moore Middle School students were proficient or better, compared to 40.7% in the district and 34.2% statewide. The school's diverse student population, with a higher percentage of Hispanic (38.32%) and lower percentage of White (53.53%) students, as well as a higher percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds (53.26%), may contribute to these academic challenges.

Interestingly, the nearby schools, such as Drake Junior High, Oberon Middle, and Wayne Carle Middle, consistently outperform Moore Middle School on academic measures, with higher proficiency rates and higher statewide rankings. These schools have a less diverse student population and a lower percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, which may contribute to their stronger academic performance. Addressing the underlying factors, such as socioeconomic disparities and equity issues, could be crucial in improving Moore Middle School's overall academic outcomes and providing a more equitable education for all students.

Open Quote I have been blown away with the excitement my child has for all of her classes and what she is learning. The teachers are amazing often going above and beyond. They push her academically and the school has opportunities for her creativity with a great theatre program and arts electives. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is the armpit of the Jefferson County school system! The Principle, The Dean, and certain 7th grade counselors, including the school resource officer will be very lucky if they don't end up in a court of law?
It's sad because there are students and staff that are genuine. Unfortunately, The Leadership in this school couldn't get worse! It's Education at its most desperate scenario. The reviews of this school on other sites are too generous. We did not pull our student fast enough! The trouble started in week one. We had to go straight to the Police Dept. Immediately and on more than one occasion Re Moore middle school. It's Dangerous! This school does NOT deserve 1 Star. Close Quote
