Summary

Adams Elementary is a K-8 public school serving 492 students in the Stockton Unified district, operating in a high-needs environment where the vast majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

The school faces significant academic challenges, ranking in the bottom 5% of California elementary schools, with particularly low mathematics proficiency and a severe chronic absenteeism rate of 45.2% that is much higher than the district and state averages. A notable gender gap exists, with male students ranking significantly lower than female students. However, the school shows some relative strength in serving its Special Education population compared to its overall performance.

Comparisons with nearby schools reveal important context. While Pulliam Elementary and Kennedy Elementary in the same district face similar struggles, schools just across district lines, like John McCandless Charter and Lincoln Elementary in Lincoln Unified, perform much better. Most strikingly, Maxine Hong Kingston Elementary, located just 0.19 miles away in the same neighborhood and serving a similar student population, has better academic results and a lower absenteeism rate, suggesting school-level factors significantly impact outcomes.

Open Quote My daughter was assaulted on campus and they were only going to use consequences if my daughter defended herself as she got punched numerous times in the back of her head.Because my daughter didnt fight back they showed favoritism and brushed it under the carpet for the other girl. They were only concerned about my daughter being present, when I kept her out of school for a few days to ensure the safety of my daughter as they were unable to do so. They were only concerned because those were days they didnt get paid for!!!!!!The only time they seem concerned is when it comes to test scores which effect their ratings and proves the integrity of how the school is run!!!!
