As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My son started there in transitional kindergarten he is now going into fourth grade I putlled him out of the school in the middle of third grade he has learned nothing besides his ABC’s. After years of many parent teacher and principal conferences where I would leave crying out of frustration and sadness for my child I pulled him out of school in the middle of third grade.I had him tested he is add, OCD, and has a chemical in balance. When I finally was taught that the school is supposed to help with these testings I was furious after more digging I noticed a pattern of other children that attended the school that were pushed out of their school when their child was in need of some extra attention. This school is a joke, a waste of time, money hungry, fake school! It ruined my child and the way he feels about school and people now we are trying to heal and I am trying to teach him that is not and was not how is school should be. And convince him that he will have a better experience if he gets school another try. I am disgusted with on elementary Close Quote

Open Quote My son has gone here since TK. Almost held back every year but kept getting promoted anyway. Now I have a sweet incoming 4th grader that can write and spell in incoming 2nd grade. Horrible. Had the same teacher 2nd and 2-3 combo last yr. She kept telling me he was behind but she was catching him up and not to worry. Had him tested beginning of 2nd. Huge deficits but offered no IEP. NowI had tested end of last yr. 3rd. SO MAD!!! How humiliating for him to try to go to 4th. He is in summer school but had to give up 4 weeks of summer. No disciple problems. I figured out to ask if he is ADD and Dr said he is. They missed that all this time! Principle knew problem the whole time (at all testing meetings) and just keeps saying "we can only go from here". He said that 2 years ago and last year. Don't be fooled. I always heard OB was a sweet school and no doubt it is. I loved it right up until I realized they can't identify a child in real trouble and get him help. The other elementary schools in the area like Silver Gate and Loma Portal are full and end the choice program by Jan. OB is usually asking for more students for funding... HUMMMM What does that tell you. Close Quote

Open Quote Ocean Beach Elementary was recently named a California Distinguished School and has received several other academic honors. Their fine arts program is outstanding, parents are involved, and an outstanding family friendly staff. Outstanding leadership. The school has a great community vibe. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
