Summary

Loyola Elementary is a top-tier K-6 public school serving 367 students in the highly acclaimed Los Altos Elementary district, consistently earning 5-star ratings and ranking in the top 5% of all California schools.

Academically, Loyola's students perform exceptionally well, with over 79% proficient in core subjects, far surpassing state averages. Within its own elite district, which is ranked in the 99th percentile statewide, Loyola's story is one of remarkable growth: while 3rd-grade scores start lower than at immediate peers like Springer Elementary and Covington Elementary, its 6th graders achieve some of the highest scores in the area, indicating a powerful learning trajectory through the upper grades. A key area for attention is chronic absenteeism, which at 7.5% is higher than at its direct comparison schools.

When compared to high-performing schools in neighboring districts, such as Montclaire Elementary in the Cupertino Union district, Loyola benefits from significantly higher per-student spending. The school serves a community with very low economic need, which is a defining characteristic of its student population. Overall, Loyola provides an outstanding education, distinguished by its ability to accelerate student achievement to exceptional levels by the end of elementary school.

Open Quote Beyond impressed with the leadership of the school, rigorous academic structure balanced with nurturing children to be empathetic and good citizens, as well as the small, tight knit community feel. We looked at every private school with the intention of going private, but after hearing Principal Julian speak and meeting other families, we wanted to give our neighborhood public school a try and so grateful we did as our children are now supported by their community and enriched by the experiences, teachers and curriculum provided by Loyola. I only wish my friends in other LASD schools could experience what we have, Loyola is one of a kind! Close Quote
