Summary

Piedmont Hills High is a large, comprehensive public high school serving approximately 1,900 students in grades 9-12 within the East Side Union High district in San Jose, consistently ranking in the top 7% of all California high schools.

The school stands out for its exceptional and stable performance, boasting a 95% graduation rate and remarkably low chronic absenteeism at 10.6%, which is less than half the district average. Its academic proficiency in English, Math, and Science significantly outpaces other schools in its district, such as James Lick High and Independence High. Notably, Piedmont Hills achieves this excellence while spending less per student than some neighboring schools, demonstrating efficient use of resources and strong support systems that benefit all students, including English Learners and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

When compared to a high-performing local charter like KIPP San Jose Collegiate, Piedmont Hills delivers similarly elite results with a different model, using fewer financial resources per student. Its consistent top-tier ranking over the past decade, even through pandemic disruptions, sets it apart from other nearby schools whose performance is more volatile, solidifying its reputation as a model of reliable academic excellence in the area.

Open Quote I love this school! Amazing clubs and amazing people. You can find inspiration in every corner (or at least I did). We are a very spirited school too so bring your best out during FANTASTICS because the competitors' fire burns. On anther note lol the teachers are amazing and there's after school help as well. Most teachers are friendly and funny and can treat you as a buddy. Some are mean but they can teach which is good. I enjoyed my high school experience lots! Thanks Piedmont Hills :D Close Quote
