Summary

River Bluff Elementary is a consistently high-performing K-6 public school serving 694 students in Fresno, part of the Central Unified School District.

The school stands out for its strong academic results, especially given that many of its students face economic challenges. River Bluff significantly outperforms both its own district and the state average in English, Math, and Science. Perhaps most impressively, it achieves these results while spending considerably less per student than nearby schools in the Fresno Unified School District. The school has shown remarkable improvement over the last decade, climbing to a 4-star rating, and does an exceptional job supporting its economically disadvantaged students, earning a 5-star rating in that category.

When compared to nearby schools, River Bluff's performance is notable. It forms a cluster of success with the similarly high-achieving Norman Liddell Elementary, despite both schools having similar student demographics to lower-performing neighbors. For instance, it far outpaces schools like John Steinbeck Elementary and William Saroyan Elementary in academic proficiency. The school has also managed student attendance well, with a lower chronic absenteeism rate than most comparison schools, contributing to its stable and strong track record.

Open Quote Our two boys love going to River Bluff the staff is very friendly and the teachers really care about the kids. Our oldest had a learning problem when we moved from Nevada just one mouth after enrolling him into RB we got a call. The administration had run test, and found what our son needed to improve on. They told us they will do as much as we will allow them to do. Our son is now going into the sixth grade and he has made honor roll. To say the teachers did a great job is not saying enough.
