As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I like this school! And so happy that my kid is there! Close Quote

Open Quote I have Twin daughters that attend Kindergarten at Community Roots Academy (CRA). Their Teachers have surpassed my expectations academically. At mid review, both my daughters could have been placed in 1st grade due because of their Reading, Writing and Math levels. At the beginning of the year I was a little worried how they would do but all my worrying was unfounded. I believe this is all due to the Teachers and the Project Based Learning Academic philosophy at CRA. The Parent Community itself at CRA was so supportive and genuinely caring I could not of asked more of a welcome when my girls first started at the school.

In response to the disgruntled person with the bad review, I don't know what school her children go to or the motive behind her review but it does not have anything to do with the Project Based Learning environment, Teachers or Students that go to the school. As for the parking situation, I don't know what school in Aliso Viejo that doesn't deal with the same struggles. Also CRA has a different drop off and pick up time than the shared school so I don't understand the issue.

"Charter schools are public schools operating under a “charter,” essentially a contract entered into between the school and its authorizing agency." In our case (Capistrano School District) which is our partner in the negotiations regarding CRA.

But if anyone would like to log a complaint, they should direct their issues to the appropriate people and not the Parent or Students of the school. Or leave erroneous reviews on a school review site.

Open Quote Trying to displace 375 neighborhood students in order to accommodate for your 700 students is plain out rude... after reading the bios of the board members you would think that this school would easily be able to fund or find private funds to find a much more suitable location, but clearly they can't. They have to be the bullies of the playground. For those who are looking at community roots charter school I would highly not recommend because the traffic would be absolutely horrifying for you going to and from the school's new desired location of either Hidden Hills or Crown Valley elementary so best of luck to those who were planning on attending the Community Roots Academy. You would not only be attending a school with lots of traffic but would also be under the care of board members who clearly can't come up with better ideas to help there students learn in a much more sustainable building. Enjoy the rest of your day! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
