Summary

Armona Elementary is a public K-4 school serving 571 students in the Armona Union Elementary district, and it stands out as a remarkable success story of steady improvement despite serving a community where the vast majority of students face economic challenges.

The school's true strength is in how well it supports its students compared to other schools with similar demographics. While test scores are below the state average, they are significantly higher than the district average and far surpass those at nearby schools like Lincoln Elementary, which has a similar student population. Armona Elementary has also made exceptional progress in getting students to school regularly, slashing chronic absenteeism by more than half to a rate that is now better than the state average and competitive with higher-performing area schools like Frontier Elementary.

This consistent growth, moving from a low to an average state ranking over the past decade, shows the school is effective with its resources. Parents can see a school that is clearly outperforming expectations, especially for students from low-income families, and is a steadily improving option within the local context.

Open Quote Sadly, the powers that be (state & local) have ZERO common sense. They appear to be $$$ oriented. Any program that benefits admin is quickly snatched up. Same goes for renting out school facilities to outside organizations. The backbones of this school are the teachers, janitors, bus drivers & maintenance. Admin expects teachers & all support staff to take on more work, same hours at the same pay, which is alarmingly low. Teachers & support staff are expected to meet unrealistic goals. The powers that be have 1 agenda, pad their pockets. LACK of COMMON SENSE speaks volumes. This school USED TO BE a great school....sadly it is a joke. Results: Children ARE left behind for the almighty $. Close Quote
