Villa De Paz Elementary School

Public Grades PK, KG-8
Summary

Villa De Paz Elementary School is a public school in Phoenix, Arizona, serving grades PK-8 with a student population of 618. The school is part of the Pendergast Elementary District, which is ranked 394 out of 540 districts in Arizona and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Villa De Paz Elementary School faces significant challenges in terms of academic performance, with consistently lower standardized test scores compared to the district and state averages. For example, in 2022-2023, only 7% of 5th-grade students were proficient in science, compared to the district average of 19% and the state average of 34%. The school has been ranked in the bottom 10-20% of Arizona elementary schools for the past several years and consistently receives a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger. Additionally, the school struggles to support its student subgroups, with many groups ranking in the bottom 10-20% of Arizona elementary schools.

While Villa De Paz is part of the Pendergast Elementary District, it consistently underperforms the other schools in the district, such as Rio Vista Elementary, Pendergast Elementary, and Copper King Elementary, which have higher academic achievement and better overall rankings. This may be due to the high percentage of students (67.96% in 2022-2023) receiving free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage among the student population.

Open Quote I went to this school and there were many problems. I was bullied the whole time I was there, the teachers and administrators, no matter how many times I brought it up nothing was done. I was one of the students who quickly finished my work, after that the teachers had me help the other students. I still have issues with spelling because this school didn't teach me how to spell well. Whenever we did essays or reports if I spelled something wrong they would say, "I knew what you meant." I would never recommend this school to anyone. Close Quote
