Summary

Cactus View Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-6 in the Paradise Valley Unified District in Phoenix, Arizona. With 528 students, the school has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Arizona elementary schools over the past decade, currently holding a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Cactus View Elementary faces significant challenges in academic achievement, particularly in serving its diverse student population effectively. The school consistently underperforms compared to the district and state in standardized test scores across all grade levels and subjects. For example, in 2024-2025, only 22% of 5th graders at Cactus View were proficient in science, compared to 42% in the district and 34% statewide. Additionally, the school struggles to effectively serve certain student subgroups, ranking in the bottom half of Arizona schools for female, male, Asian, African American, and white student performance. However, Cactus View performs relatively better for Native American and English Language Learner students.

Despite spending more per student ($9,589 in 2021-2022) compared to the state average, Cactus View's academic outcomes have not improved. The school's performance varies significantly across grade levels, with 3rd-grade English Language Arts and Mathematics scores being higher than 5th and 6th grades. This suggests potential issues with curriculum alignment or instructional quality. In comparison, nearby schools like Echo Mountain Primary and Eagle Ridge Elementary in the Paradise Valley Unified District generally outperform Cactus View, while the school outperforms some local charter schools like Imagine Online Academy and Imagine Bell Canyon.

Open Quote If I could use a lower rating I would.
My son has been in need of testing for possible special education purposes and this SCHOOL FORGOT ABOUT HIM!!
Please, if you have concerns for your child and may need a little extra help, do not confide in this school. My son had been scheduled 2 years ago and they pulled me in for “behavior” issues. At this meeting I asked for the paper I had already signed to start testing and what were the results? The entire staff looked at each other in confusion. An employee at the school went into the files and found the paper that had been signed back in the 3rd grade. My son is in 5th this year. If I may quote his words, “ The energy felt very negative and my teacher is angry and yelling all the time.”
Take your babies to another school.
Thank you. Close Quote
