Summary

Rainbow Valley Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in the Liberty Elementary District in Buckeye, Arizona, with 579 students. The school has consistently ranked in the bottom quarter of Arizona elementary schools over the past decade, with a current statewide ranking of 1125 out of 1245 schools and a 0 out of 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for the past two school years.

Rainbow Valley Elementary School significantly underperforms compared to the Liberty Elementary District and the state of Arizona in standardized test scores across all grade levels and subjects. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, only 20-23% of Rainbow Valley students were proficient in English Language Arts and Mathematics, compared to 36-46% for the district and state. The school also struggles to serve its diverse student population, ranking in the bottom quarter of Arizona elementary schools for female, male, Hispanic, White, and special education students. However, the school performs relatively better for English Language Learners, ranking in the top 15% of Arizona schools in this category. Additionally, the school has seen a concerning increase in dropout rates, rising from 2.8% in 2020-2021 to 6.1% in 2022-2023, significantly higher than the state average.

When comparing Rainbow Valley Elementary to other schools in the Liberty Elementary District, it consistently underperforms. For example, Westar Elementary and Estrella Mountain Elementary, which are also in the district, have significantly higher academic achievement and statewide rankings. The high percentage of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and the increasing dropout rates at Rainbow Valley Elementary may be contributing to the school's poor academic performance, despite the school's relatively high spending per student of $9,136, which is higher than the district average but lower than the state average.

Open Quote This school is a poor preforming school. They have a tendency to shuffle around needed areas in order to make themselves look good. My son has an IEP and they try to make changes to it w/o consulting us, the parents, they also dont make their teachers follow it to the letter and outside support is almost nill. My son is supposed to get help to recieve 70% or better in all classses, tests, ect.. but at the end of last year we still got a report card with 3 D's on it showing us that they don't care about the student as much as they say. We also have a 7 yr old daughter that attends she was not getting the needed attention in kindergarten but they still passed her onto the first grade last yr. As she was having difficulting with reading even with lots of coaching at home they still wanted to pass her on to the second grade stating that they would just have to work harder with her this yr. I don't think that is very acceptable behavior for a school. She shouldnt keep moving up grades just to have to catch up more and more each year. Avoid this school as much as possible. The principle will be the big part in the shuffling of your child thru the school system . How he got a principle job i will never know but as of this month we are moving them to a better school.. Arizona has no boundary laws for schools but if you are out of district you will have to transport your kids your self but well worth it in the long run if you want to avoid a bad education from this school.
