Summary

Amphitheater High School is a public high school located in Tucson, Arizona, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,110 students. The school is part of the Amphitheater Unified District, which is ranked 131 out of 289 districts in Arizona and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite the school's higher per-student spending, which has increased from $9,053 in 2018-2019 to $10,519 in 2020-2021, Amphitheater High School faces significant challenges. The school has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Arizona high schools, with a ranking between 242 and 372 out of 285 to 469 schools over the past 10 years, and its SchoolDigger rating has also been low, ranging from 0 to 2 stars out of 5 during this period. The school's academic performance, as measured by proficiency rates on state assessments, is significantly below the district and state averages across all subjects and grade levels.

Interestingly, the nearby schools, including Alternative Computerized Education (ACE) Charter High School, Pima Partnership School, and Flowing Wells High School, generally perform better than Amphitheater High School in terms of statewide rankings and academic performance. However, these schools also have their own challenges, such as lower graduation rates and higher dropout rates compared to the state averages.

Open Quote The Cambridge program is a TOTAL waste of time. UK math and science subjects are supposed to be taught in UK English to match the Cambridge exams. Using US English teaches confusing vocabulary and brings poor test results. Neither UA nor PCC give any credits for Cambridge IGCSE exams.Sure, you can get a Grand Canyon Diploma, but neither UA nor PCC accept that either.

Cambridge Math students are confused when doing AZMerit exams, which are given in US English, a different language than UK English.

Some excellent teachers, but very poor World History, Math and English teachers.

A school to be avoided at all costs.. Close Quote
