| by a parent Monday, June 20, 2011 Beacon Hill Elementary is a collaboration of culture, ideas, language, and ideology. This small place of learning serves as a conduit through which parents and children from far flung places come together to create community.... Tentatively and awkwardly, but it does happen. Despite the differences in language, education, residency status, religion...Connections are made child by child. The grown ups tend to follow behind the kids. We, all of us, are learning all the time. Crossing a cultural divide daily is not easy. But at Beacon Hill, the more we practice, the Accidental learning happens often here, when we can find time for it. The poor teachers are so stressed.... I just want to lift their burden a bit so that they can do what they were meant to do and inspire these children to be the best that they are.
